Playing Catch Up...Nov. 09

 Hello friends,
Where did the time go??? We've had a full November, capped off with a season of thankfulness. "Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord." So grab a cup of coffee or tea and read of all His faithfulness. He is truly a great God!

P1050351 P1050414 P1050427 P1050442 PASTOR TOMMY RUIZ AND ANDREW - came to visit us early in the month. They are good friends from Okinawa Japan. Andrew leads worship there and assists Pastor Tom in the ministry. Pastor Tom is a great brother and it's wonderful to serve together in this land. He hails from Corona California, and currently pastors Calvary Chapel Ginowan and the Calvary Chapel Bible College extension in Okinawa. We picked them up from the airport and Pastor Tom taught for Jeremiah at both locations on Sunday. Afterward the service, we had to take him to our favorite gyoza restaurant called Charlie's Gyoza.

P1050446 P1050449 P1050450 The men then went off to the Calvary Chapel Pastors and Leaders Retreat in Okutama. It was great time for the men to encourage one another and to hear some great teaching.

Setagaya Fall Fest... a great time celebrating with our church family. We were blessed that quite a few folks from the neighborhood came to the fest and we got to meet some of them.

DUSK -

P1050580 The new flu has been going around all the schools here in Japan. This month, all three of our kids were home with their class closed for one week. The school rule is that at least 7 kids have to be diagnosed with the new flu and they have to close the class down for 5 days. Thankfully, our kids have been fine other than with the sniffles and regular colds. Cali's class has been closed down twice now and although it is fun to have my daughter home with us, we're hoping that there are no more class closings. I think our boys enjoyed the time home a little too much :) Cali still had a ton of homework to do so she had a couple of classmates come over to do schoolwork together.
Please continue to pray that our children are safe and healthy throughout this winter season. Living in a city with 30 million other people makes for illnesses to travel a lot faster.

P1050224 I teach an English class in our home for some of Cali's friends. It has been a wonderful thing to be a part of their lives and to have them in our lives. We recently had a spelling bee in which they all did very very well. It is always my prayer that we would be the "light" of Christ into their lives. All of them have come to our church for events and we pray that fruit will be borne in due season.
